Day 10: Pluck Monkey Song!

Updated: Sep 27, 2019

Review everything we've done so far: bow hold, windshield wipers, rocket ships, pepperoni pizzas in the air, putting on the shoulder rest, rest position, play position, pluck position, and left hand position.

Get into play position with your left hand and be ready to pluck. Make sure your fingers are over the A string, close to the string. Pluck open A once. Then add your fingers, plucking each note one time: A, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, A. Notice that you play 3rd finger twice in a row!

Be sure not to squeeze the neck with your left hand - think about being a monkey hanging from a tree with your fingers. The weight of your arm is what pushes down the string to change the pitch. Stay relaxed and keep your hand position!
